Handbooks for Building Officials
The HPBEF works closely with building and code officials to facilitate the development of stronger working relationships and understanding between the officials who monitor and inspect hearth product installations and the professionals installing these products.  Under the name, HEARTH, the Foundation publishes a set of two handbooks, Hearth Handbooks for Building Officials:  Gas Hearth Systems, and Hearth Handbooks for Building Officials:  Solid Fuel Systems.  The books provide information on important installation and code issues that building officials may not be entirely acquainted with. The books are co-branded by the International Code Council (ICC).

Classes for Building Officials
The Foundation has courses based on the two handbooks.  If your building code group would like to have a representative from HEARTH address your group at one of your local or regional conferences, please call 703-524-8030. 

There are three courses available:

• Hearth Handbooks for Building Officials:  Gas Hearth Systems
• Hearth Handbooks for Building Officials:  Solid Fuel Hearth Systems
• Gas and Solid Fuel Systems

These courses are approximately 1 to 1.5 hours
