Beginning in 1980, the HEARTH Foundation has programmed, promoted, and delivered technical certification education materials and exam preparation courses. We continue to do that today through our national independently produced certification program for hearth professionals recently renamed National Fireplace Institute (NFI). This continuous program represents the industry's shared commitment in promoting excellence in the performance of hearth products and systems in part through voluntary technical credentialing of its professionals.

In addition to certifications, the ten member HEARTH Education Foundation Board of Governors oversees a wide range of educational activities including business & financial management, technical, and marketing & sales programs, all toward helping members of the industry achieve excellence and business success.
